⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Mewtwo
Age: It's complicated, but biologically, 20 years.
Canon: Pokémon: The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back
Canon Point: After the escape from Giovanni's gym.

Background: Remember the movie? All those years ago?

Personality: Mewtwo is one massive inferiority complex wrapped up in genocidal anger. He suffers an incredible amount of angst over being created rather than born, for a number of reasons: he feels he has no purpose for existence, humans treat him as an object rather than as a sentient being, he has the constant comparison to his biological progenitor weighing over his head...

Giovanni, more than anyone, did the most harm to Mewtwo by promising him an equal partnership, then candidly dismissing the Pokémon as simply a tool to be used. With his only experiences with humans being those who created him and those who wanted to use him, Mewtwo believes the world itself has literally no place for him, and that the only way for him to find a place is to scourge the entire world clean and make a new home for not only himself, but other cloned Pokémon.

On the note of creating a world for clones, one might assume that the Pokémon battles he challenged the human trainers to were means for him to acquire more clones, and certainly they accomplish that purpose. But it also serves as both a petty, unnecessary dig at humans and the Pokémon they use, and a boasting assessment of his own superiority. (See: massive inferiority complex.) When the plan breaks down with Mew's arrival, Mewtwo hypocritically does exactly what he hated humanity for -- he treats his clone Pokémon as things, setting them into a painful and miserable battle purely for self-aggrandizement.

Interesting to note is that Mewtwo has a level of savvy never seen before or since in continuity, in that he created devices which could do something unheard of in the Pokémon universe: capture Pokémon that are in a Pokéball. His determination and his intelligence combine to create incredible feats.

Although Mewtwo claims to hate humanity for using Pokémon, his response to the idea that a Pokémon could voluntarily work with a human as a friend is to despite that Pokémon for their weakness and foolishness. He's also quick to write off every single wild Pokémon in existence, apparently for the crime of not being a clone. Despite the horrific depths to which he intends to stoop, though, he isn't doing any of this out of evil -- though it IS evil, unquestionably. He's very, very lost and trying to find himself by raw force and strength, which are the only things he understands.

Abilities: Mewtwo has several Pokémon moves, or rather, variants on them. His movelist doesn't quite correspond to the game lists, unsurprisingly. His movelist appears to be: Psychic, which is a direct mental energy attack; Barrier, which shields him from harm and can be used to amplify and return an opponent's attack back on them; and Shadow Ball, which is an incredibly powerful gathered-and-tossed energy attack. His fourth move appears to be Disable, although Mewtwo's version of it is bizarrely powerful; he manages to suppress every single special ability of an entire stadium full of Pokémon, without appearing in any way hindered in his simultaneously fight with Mew.

Mewtwo is also powerfully telekinetic, to the point that he can summon a storm that would have been capable of literally wiping out advanced life on the planet, had it been allowed to progress. Telekinetic flight is second nature for him.

Mewtwo communicates only telepathically. Canon is unclear on whether or not this bypasses language -- he understands Pikachu, but then again, Pokémon are apparently universal translators for each other anyway. His telepathic power is such that he can completely dominate another person mentally, turning them essentially into a puppet.

He also apparently has extensive architecture and engineering knowledge, considering he was able to build his own fortress on New Island, presumably out of the lab wreckage there. He also has enough knowledge to not only rebuild the cloning facilities but improve them to the point that they can generate improved Pokémon clones in minutes flat, as well as develop devices that can do the unheard of and capture Pokémon in their Pokéballs.

Other: Mewtwo's canon is all based on the English dub and interpretations will be taken from there.

For the sake of ease, I am assuming that Mewtwo's telepathy transcends language. For the sake of keeping him from being handily wiped out by heroes, I am assuming that his version of Disable can affect supernatural powers beyond Pokémon moves.

⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉

First Person Sample:

[Mewtwo's voice comes over the crystal network with absolutely perfect control, clear and flawless without a trace of interfering emotion or images.]

If this world knew what Pokémon were, I would challenge any prospective trainers to a duel to prove their insignificance... but this world lacks in many things. Science being one of them. But these crystals serve the same purpose.

So I will have this, humans: the secrets of using these crystals for cloning, and the resources to do it. Whether you give them to me or I take them is a choice I leave in your hands. You cannot escape your ultimate fate... but I will spare the lives of those who do not oppose me until that time.

I am certain those of you who believe yourselves somehow heroic will attempt to stop me... and that it is pointless to try and change your minds. I know what you wish to do. You would be wise to keep that in mind.

Third Person Sample: Test Drive!
